Borders is publishing ebooks and making them available for sale! For just $89 you get the software to turn your manuscript into an e-book and you also get an ISBN number (which generally costs more than $89). Sounds like a great deal.
According to 14 large publishers who report to AAP's monthly sales estimates, ebook sales jumped 172.4% in August 2010 to almost $39 million in sales. Ebook sales for the entire year (Jan to Aug) were up 192.9% to $263 million (that's 9% of trade sales).

OBA Deadline Date Applications for the 2010 Oregon Book Awards must be received by 5 pm on Friday, August 27, 2010.

The Oregon Book Awards honor outstanding books by Oregon authors.
The finalists for the 2010/11 Oregon Book Awards will be announced in early 2011 and the winners will be announced at the 2010/11 Oregon Book Awards ceremony, to be held in the spring of 2011.
Awards are presented in the following genres: Poetry, Fiction, General Nonfiction, Creative Nonfiction, Children's Literature, Young Adult Literature and Drama.

ForeWord Reviews is now accepting entries for the 2010 Book of the Year Awards. This time-honored book award celebrates the independent spirit; it's open to independently published books which have been or will be released in 2010.
ForeWord Reviews' Book of the Year Awards program was established to bring increased attention to librarians and booksellers of the literary and graphic achievements of independent publishers and their authors. ForeWord is the only review trade journal devoted exclusively to books from independent houses.
